Chant with me now! APPLE! CIDER! VINEGAR!
That’s right! An apple did no good for snow white. But from Black Widow Scarlett to Transformers star Meghan Fox, there are celebs who won’t stop swearing by their a.m. p.m. apple cider vinegar shot. Not just for weight loss, but also an addition to their skin and hair care regimen, along with improved digestion and tamed PMS.
Diet fads come and go all the time, I am not a fan. But I do like simple hacks that work in real-time. Looking at Greek history, apple cider vinegar seems to have a record use for its medicinal properties. Dating back to the 4th century, it was recommended by the father of medicine to battle ulcers and sore throats. With that being said, and taking into account the all-natural and safe ingredients (unless it expired) I was pretty excited to get along the ACV starbase. Pretty quickly let me add that I have used the apple cider vinegar “with mother of vinegar”. Now,
‘ What is the mother of vinegar? ‘
As for the term “mother” attached, these are the original bacteria cultures that were used in the fermentation process of the crushed apples and hereby were kept intact with the solution. You can find it floating in the solution or curdling at the bottom if these beneficial bacteria were not distilled along with its nutrients. Else, it was filtered out in the manufacturing process and the solution is probably less effective for this experiment.
HOW TO USE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR FOR WEIGHT LOSS?
There ain’t any specifics provided with everyone taking their ACV share in their own preferred style. While some just are adding it to smoothie and juices, others are using it over a salad bowl. We are taking a simpler and most common approach, just diluting it with a glass full of water. Harvard Health recommends taking one to two teaspoons before or along with meals. You can also try sipping it with daily water intake, acknowledging the quantity at par. Taste varies a little from tangy to pungent tones based on the brand you pick, unpasteurized should be the take to make.
ACV Ritual and the combined experience
DAY 1: Stupid enough! I thought to just gulp a shot and start off quickly with my morning. Man, could have I been more wrong. It was horrible on my tongue and even harsh on my empty stomach. I can’t say what was I wondering while I decided to shot something that acidic in my stomach. Taking on to workouts afterward was an even worse idea. Lesson learned the hard way, got done with the first day. The taste was no great as I should have better known for the fact that it is vinegar (naeee… my imaginary world). Overall the week went easy, continuing the ritual in a glass full water.
I thought to revamp the ritual with some green tea. You can optionally add molasses, maple syrup or honey as well for sweetness. It was overall refreshing with a kick start. The week went pretty smoothly with noticeably improved digestion. ACV seems to inculcate beneficial gut bacteria and is also known to reduce digestive inflammation.

Week 3 and 4
Not much differently I went on with my early morning ritual and also tried to sip it in the evening with some light snack. It is important to note that along with this special and cheap morning elixir, I also took care of a pup who made me run frequently. Furthermore, I tried floor workouts for a good 30 minutes, 5 times every week. B’cos hey! I don’t just pull my sheets in the imagination.
So long story, cut short what did I got of this initially torcher later kinda okay habit?
More than 3kg drop with over one inch off my belly. For someone not too over the weight valley, it feels great to get rid of the stubborn fat. There are others who claim to lose some without workout and just the ritual as well. And that is phenomenal, though I prefer to move my ass a bit more.

Although not all claims can be verified well, there are certain points to ponder while using apple cider vinegar in general.
Don’ts of Apple Cider Vinegar
ACV is highly acidic, gulping it without dilution might not be a good idea. It might alleviate heartburn and GERD for those with irritated food pipe. Undiluted ACV can also damage your pearly whites, as the acid can ruin the tooth enamel fast.
The ideal way to drink would be sipping it slow using a straw, to avoid contact with the enamel. And the ideal time would be about 30minutes before meals on an empty stomach.
It is also better to avoid mixing ACV to fibrous or heavy smoothies as it has the tendency to sit longer in the gut and might have adverse effects. The key is to keep it light and easy. Consuming ACV can also result in lowered potassium levels in the body and one can aid a supplement with medical advisory.
Some creative drinks with ACV
A cool replacement beverage to efficiently combat dehydration and lethargy is switchel. Based on demographics and personal taste, switchel is made in variety though the base remains the same.
- Apple Cider Vinegar ( 4tbsp )
- Honey / Maple syrup / Molasses ( upto 4tbsp )
- Ginger grated ( 1tbsp )
- 4 cups of water
You can opt to slice in some lemon or apples or mint as well.
Another interesting way of consuming it can be with cinnamon tea or any other with no added dairy. You can also try filling up a glass bottle with water and add 2tbsp ACV, along with chia seeds for a day-long sip.
Do you know of something better? Have you tried it any day? Do you know of a way to get rid of the smell though? 😀
Do lemme know…
